About This Stone

This rutilated quartz originated in Brazil, home to some of the world's most celebrated quartz deposits. Over millions of years, fine golden rutile crystals became suspended within clear quartz, creating intricate patterns that appear frozen in time. The result is a gemstone that is both transparent and complex, revealing new details with every glance.

The journey of this watch began at a gem and mineral show, where we selected the rough stone for its exceptional character and beauty. From there, it traveled to Batu, Indonesia, where master stone artisan John hand-carved it into a functional timepiece. Once completed, it made its way back across the globe, transforming from raw crystal into wearable art.

This watch holds a special place in the Petros story. It is the inaugural Petros timepiece, the first watch ever created under the Petros name. Bringing this vision to life required countless hours of experimentation, refinement, and craftsmanship. Because of the complexity involved in perfecting the piece, it will remain permanently one of one. There will never be another.

Every Petros watch tells a story that spans continents, from the crystal-rich landscapes of Brazil, to a gem show in America, to a small workshop in Indonesia, and finally to your wrist.

About Rutilated Quartz

Often called Venus Hair Stone or Angel Hair Quartz, rutilated quartz is prized for the delicate needle-like crystals naturally suspended within the quartz. These golden inclusions create remarkable depth and movement, making each stone appear as though it contains strands of light.

Collectors and gemstone enthusiasts have long admired rutilated quartz for its rarity, clarity, and dramatic natural patterns. No two formations are ever identical, ensuring every piece is completely unique.

Metaphysical Traditions

Rutilated quartz has long been associated with clarity, focus, and personal transformation. Many crystal enthusiasts view it as a stone that encourages confidence, purpose, and forward momentum.

The golden rutile inclusions are often seen as symbols of energy and illumination, while quartz itself has traditionally been associated with amplifying intention and promoting mental clarity. Together, they have earned a reputation as a stone of insight, motivation, and new beginnings.

While these associations are rooted in cultural traditions rather than scientific evidence, they remain an enduring part of the fascination surrounding this remarkable gemstone.

A Note on Uniqueness

Nature never repeats itself. Variations in rutile pattern, crystal clarity, and mineral formation are not imperfections. They are the fingerprints of the earth.

This watch is not only unique because of the stone it contains. It is unique because it is Petros No. 001, the inaugural watch that launched the Petros collection. No additional watches will be produced from this design, making it a permanent one-of-one piece.

Materials

The watch case and dial are hand-carved from natural Brazilian rutilated quartz and feature a pink luminous dial beneath a sapphire crystal. The case is finished with a stainless steel case back.

The strap is crafted from genuine pink calf leather produced in Vietnam and fitted with a stainless steel buckle.

Material Note

Rutilated quartz is a natural gemstone. Variations in color, transparency, and rutile formation are expected and celebrated as part of each piece's individuality.
