The first and only completed piece of its kind.
This museum-quality one-of-one timepiece represents the inaugural completed work in an ongoing exploration of precision stone horology.
The watch features a precision hand carved Brazilian rutilated quartz case created through a years-long development process by an Indonesian lapidary artist who studied watchmaking tolerances and construction specifically to make stone watch fabrication possible.
The natural rutilated quartz specimen was personally selected from a gem show near Philadelphia for its exceptional rutile structure, translucency, and visual depth. Every internal formation within the stone is entirely natural and impossible to duplicate.
Paired with a handmade Vietnamese calf leather strap, the result is a fully functional sculptural timepiece that merges lapidary precision, horological engineering, and collectible mineral art.
Due to the extraordinary difficulty of fabrication, the precision required for stone watchmaking, and the uniqueness of the material itself, this piece will remain permanently one of one.
No molds exist.
No duplicate stone exists.
No second inaugural piece can exist.
As part of the final evaluation and completion process, the watch was briefly test worn to assess comfort, structural integrity, balance, wearability, and real-world functionality. Following evaluation, the piece was thoroughly cleaned and carefully prepared to preserve its new collector condition prior to release.
This remains:
- the inaugural completed work
- the first successful execution of the process
- and the only completed piece of its kind ever created
A related future work is expected to be submitted to a lapidary museum collection as part of the continuing exploration of stone-based horology.
