About this Stone

This malachite and chrysocolla originated in the Democratic Republic of Congo, a region known for producing some of the world’s most beautiful copper-bearing minerals. Over millions of years, mineral-rich water created malachite’s deep emerald banding and chrysocolla’s vibrant blue-green hues, forming patterns that appear almost hand-painted by nature.

The journey of this watch began at a gem and mineral show, where we selected the rough stone for its extraordinary character. From there, it traveled to Batu, Indonesia, where master stone artisan John hand-carved it into a functional timepiece. Once completed, it made its way back across the globe—a transformation from raw earth into wearable art.

Every Petros watch tells a story that spans continents: from the mineral-rich landscapes of Congo, to a gem show in America, to a small workshop in Indonesia, and finally to your wrist.

About Malachite & Chrysocolla

Prized for centuries, malachite is known for its rich green banding and chrysocolla for its tranquil blue-green colors. Together, they create dramatic patterns that can never be replicated, ensuring each watch is truly one of a kind.

Metaphysical Traditions

Malachite and chrysocolla have long been associated with vitality, energy, and personal growth. As copper-bearing minerals, they have historically been connected with wellbeing and the free flow of energy.

Malachite is often called a “stone of transformation,” associated with courage, protection, and positive change. Chrysocolla has traditionally been linked to wisdom, communication, and inner calm.

While these associations are rooted in cultural traditions rather than scientific evidence, they remain an enduring part of the story that has made these stones treasured for generations.

A Note on Uniqueness

Nature never repeats itself. Variations in color, pattern, and mineral formation are not imperfections—they are the fingerprints of the earth. The watch you receive will be unlike any other in the world.
